Selecting the right clothing is a crucial part of your training. If you choose a flawed uniform then the opponent will immediately gain an advantage. As mentioned above, the uniform consists of 3 parts: the jacket, the pants and the belt. Jacket is a uniform that has thick collar and wide sleeves. Though the dress may look odd according to the style trend but it plays a great role in your protection while practicing. Undoubtedly, uniform protects the practitioners from severe injuries and tears. There are two short splits on either side of the hip and there is an extra cloth so as to protect the wearer from injuries. The jacket is secured with a belt, colored according to rank, wrapped tightly around the waist and knotted. The pants should be elasticized and have drawstring waist with wide legs to allow movements. If the pant does not have enough space, it could constrict your movement and easily throw you on the back-foot while fighting. Moreover, there should be enough padding around toes and knees to prevent any injury.
Precautions you should take with your judo uniform The uniforms should be made with 100% cotton as it is the best option for uniform that helps attain breathability. Pure cotton uniforms are pre- shrunken but they may expand when exposed to heat for long time. That is why it is advisable to wash the uniforms in cold water only and then airy dry them. This will prevent the uniform from any shrinkage. Most of the practitioners use white cotton uniforms in their regular practice, but people who appear in major competitions may opt for Blue uniforms too.
