If, however, you are thinking about competing, you might want to think about getting yourself a heavyweight uniform. A heavyweight uniform gives the practitioner a look and feel that they can’t get with any other weight of uniform. The heavy weight uniform is made of tougher fabric, such as a brushed canvas fabric or duck fabric, in order to make the uniform feel softer, yet be sturdier.
A heavy weight uniform is the traditional uniform of serious competitors. It is the “master’s choice” of uniforms because it is so much most durable. The strong fabric makes the competitor look and sound great whenever there is a solid punch or kick thrown. A nice “snap” sound is what you want to hear from the fabric, which impresses the crowd and the judges.
Ronin, a trusted name in Karate wear, has just the heavy weight uniform you need. This is a 12 oz uniform that is made of 100% cotton. This uniform comes with a Traditional cut jacket (longer than most brands) and has drawstring pants. With sizes starting at 1 -7, the jacket is cut 2.5 inches longer than it should be to allow for the tournament use. This karate gi is great for all levels of play. However, it's not recommended for white belt level because it can be too heavy.
